Breaking 360º cinema techniques with the Z CAM V1

Dinner Party is one of four winners of Engadget’s immersive media project. It is a virtual-reality thriller based on the true story of the Betty and Barney Hill UFO-abduction incident, the first nationally known UFO abduction in American history. Z CAM V1 was used unconventionally by affixing it to the end of a 30 foot crane floated above a modestly set dining room table. The arrangement was necessary to facilitate a carefully orchestrated four-minute continuous shot, in which the camera (and thus the viewer) seems to take on a life of its own.
